Finding My Way featuring Jahquan Hawkins

In this installment of the Detroit Worldwide Podcast, Marquis connects with author, speaker, and educational coach, Jahquan Hawkins about his upbringing in the D, his career as an educator, and the importance of mentorship. 

 

Jahquan also discusses his lived experience as a first-generation college student attending Wayne State University as well as the inspiration behind his books, "Finding My Way" and "Donovan's College Adventure".

 

About Jahquan:

 

Jahquan Hawkins is a native Detroiter and a Detroit Public Schools graduate who holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Wayne State University and a master's degree in College Student Affairs from Eastern Illinois University.

He's worked professionally in higher education for 15 years and currently serves as the Dean of Student Services at Oakland Community College.

He is the author of two books "Finding My Way" (2016) and "Donovan's College Adventure" (2018) and the co-founder of Exposure U, a company that provides college success coaching for prospective college students.
